Hope everybody's Christmas was Merry! This morning, I missed the "launch" (got tired of that obnoxious promo with approximately two minutes of noise/helicopter sound effects - at first I thought 97.3 had gone off the air, so I switched to CHFI 98.1 ... and haven't bothered to switch back - somebody else will have to tell me all about the "launch" ...)
Apparently it's now "Toronto's greatest hits" and they dumped all their old dj's so it's all new people. I was reading the comments on-site but it wouldn't show past pg one for me and of course feedback was all positive so I'm guessing station only put the "good" ones up. I looked at the playlist and it's things like Bonnie Raitt/BG's kinda reminds me of the 95.3 switch in Hamilton--weird.
Weird. Their ads said "they asked us", but ... I don't recall telling them I wanted a boring playlist ... (but, then again - maybe some people didn't like the EZ Rock format, with its enjoyable mix of modern and 80's etc.) Oh, well - at least CHFI hasn't gone insane (yet) - see you over there! P.S. (I'm curious where the DJ's have gone, or whether this new format is recorded entirely in the United States and simply fed to the Borg ... er, um ... Astral network ...)
Off topic, but ... I'm hoping some EZ Rock listeners might be able to help me: Before EZ Rock disappeared, they played a funny Christmas carol on the morning show - the young "holiday" DJ said it was on the EZ Rock website (but, of course ... that's history now ...). Anyway - I wanted to download it, but I can't remember enough about it to find it via Googling ... I think it was to the rune of "Carol of The Bells", and the singer(s) would interject comical asides. Does anybody remember anything about this? Thanks in advance ...
MacGregrrr I goggled "Funny Carol of the Bells versions" and lots came up (including the muppets:-)) I'm guessing you'll just have to run through them all...

The CHFI rewards program is still going on, they're not cancelling it yet.
